The tamburello is a miniature drum kit: a single frame, a skin, a few jingles, and enough sounds and dynamics to carry an entire concert alone. It began to travel outside Italy as its technique expanded — finding a place, for the first time, in jazz, world and early music.
Three courses, in sequence. Each one is self-contained; together they are a path. Study at your own pace, from anywhere in the world, with lifetime access to the videos.
Total Tamburello I · Beginner
The fundamentals and the tradition
A structured, well-proven path from the first fundamentals to the techniques of the traditional Italian repertoire. Ample space is given to posture and to the body–instrument relationship, so that technique is built without tension or wasted effort.
Total Tamburello II · Intermediate
The modern tamburello
How to use the instrument in any genre and how to widen its vocabulary of techniques and sounds, incorporating elements from Arabic and Indian traditions. This is where the tamburello stops being a regional instrument.
Total Tamburello III · Advanced
New techniques and concepts
The core of my recent work: new techniques, grooves and concepts. All the material is original and previously unpublished. Recommended to experienced players only.
Want to hear the instrument alone first? Tamburello Solo and other performances.
Looking for a full academic path with exams and a degree instead? The Conservatory course.
